Rimu Cheese Board with Knife and Paua Inlay
These beautiful handcrafted Cheese Boards come with a wooden knife, both made from sustainably harvested native NZ Rimu and both inlayed with New Zealand Paua.
On the Cheese Board the beautifully inlaid Paua Koru design hides a small magnet. The Rimu Cheese knife has a small Paua inlay that also hides a small magnet. When laid Paua to Paua the knife gently holds to the board.
The koru design (Māori for ‘”loop or coil”‘), is a spiral shape inspired by the new unfurling silver fern frond. It is an integral symbol in Māori art & carving, where it symbolises new life, growth, harmony & abundance.
Rimu is one of the most popular of our native timbers. The heartwood timber varies in colour from a dark reddish to yellowish brown, with irregular streaks.
New Zealand Paua shell is the most colourful of the worlds abalone shells. Unique to New Zealand, pāua shells are harvested from rocky coastlines, sought after primarily for the delicious meat, it is one of the most sustainably managed wild abalone fisheries in the world.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: These can simply be wiped with a damp cloth or to remove any spills, wash in warm soapy water, re-oil with any vegetable oil, olive oil is fine to use. If badly marked rub gently along the grain with fine sandpaper then oil.
